Cranbury Classic 8/21-22

The annual pilgrimage to Norwalk CT took place this last week as I attended the Cranbury Classic for the third time. I can not report dear readers that my play was good. In contrast to how I have played this year it was quite bad. The course wooded and somewhat like Borderlands with slightly larger elevation changes it plays a lot harder than it looks. At least for this player it is a pain in the game.
Why do I keep going back? It is the friends, I stay with the Dunnes' and we have a really good time. This year there were extra guests, Greg Wintrob, Heather Eng, Jeremy Koling and Mike Siamond which made it very enjoyable. The down time was a lot of fun.
The Rounds:
In practice the 62 I shot was the high point of my play for the weekend. They expanded a few holes that I think added a couple throws to a round. So my high scores will probably stay the same for years if my game does not improve. http://soresport.com/discgolf/ When the nicely run tournament finally started my luck certainly changed and all the fairways I hit in practice was a distant memory. Round one 65, then later that afternoon an even worse 66. I was ready to go home at this point but a night of pizza and relaxing kept me around. Day two was one round and I shot a 63 to recoup some of my self respect, still not great but at least I didn't get three consecutive worse rounds.
I really want to forget the golf part of this weekend and then spend the next couple weeks practicing my drives in a field. The social aspect I will take every time and look forward when I can hang out with people again.
