Thursday 3/25 @ Devens
Practice is important and since I could not attend the Wednesday league I headed out to Devens for a Thursday practice round. My weight training is going well and I am still experimenting with this thinner body trying to find the right torque and release point. I decided to play a round and Cali round. So two throws on each hole and the first being one score while the second will be the Cali score. It is a different beast when you are playing alone. I find I play better, there is a rhythm you get into that make play more smooth.
I played very well in the first half, which is cool because it is a struggle for me most days. I was +4 and even in my respective scores. I had a really hard time with hole seven. That drive has been trouble for me in the couple rounds I played there this season. Things were smoother on the back nine and by hole 18 I was +2 and even. 18 is a tough hole so I ended up a 60 in my first score while the Cali ended a 56. Hole 17 was tough for the first score, I through a bomb of a drive with my 166 wraith. It flew right by the basket almost hitting the basket and crashing into the rock behind the basket. It was very exciting and I looked forward to the second shot as I lined it up I see my first disc slowly rolling down the hill under the basket from left to right. It continued to roll until it was all the way half way to the tee, just stopping short of the big drop down towards hole 16. I still managed a three and a 2 for the Cali. What a weird roll though.
Back in the field I spent some time practicing my drives. Felt pretty good even with the sore elbow. The new Katana really gets more distance than any driver I have. I can't wait to try it in a round. Since Devens is not that kind of course it will be maybe next weekend in NY.
Today I hopped over to Siamond Park in Burlington during lunch. Played the nine hole and shot 3-3-3-4-3-3-2-3-3 for 27.
