Week One of the Devens Tag League
Wednesday in Massachusetts was a glorious day, after a week of rain and flooding we had our second straight day of sun. The temp climbed to the low sixties and the Devens Tag League held its first weekly meeting. Leaving from work at 4pm I sat in some really tough traffic to get out to Devens. The Sudbury river has overflowed its banks in several places in Lincoln, Sudbury and Concord. Because of this the traffic patterns have basically moved all the interior traffic to route 2, which happens to be the way to the discgolf course. So instead of the 40 minute drive from Waltham to Devens it was an hour.
Arriving at 5pm I figured I would miss the league and just play a round. I played one and two getting a bogey and a birdie and then saw the league guys on hole five as I teed at three. So I was not really far behind and easily caught up. It was dry for the most part on the course and play was slow but steady. I had a horrible front half shooting a 33 but pulled it together. Had an ace run at 10, saved my ass on 11 with a 30 foot putt. Played the back well and although I took a 4 on 14, got two birdies in a row on 16 and 17. Finished with a scary downhill 15 foot putt on 18 for a four. So I shot a 60, I average a 61 on this course and felt I recovered really well from a slow start. Maybe when I can start getting there in time to warm up it will be better.
No change in the elbow. It is going to be a tough painful season with it the way it is. I have to get off my ass and see a doctor again.
