2010 Minuteman Classic
Joy and I went down to Borderland State Park to play in the Minuteman Classic doubles event. It was raining and in the forties and really just not very pleasant. We signed in and got out to our round not expecting a whole lot. We were donors for Greg and Heather who were also playing in the mixed division, but knew that coming in and didn't mind. We started on hole 18 playing the and played fairly well although our scores were a bit above what we have done in the past on the Blue to white layout. Missed a couple of putts but also made some long ones. It was cold and wet and Joy and I knew about 11 holes in that we would not be playing in round two. We shot a 65 and were 12 behind the leaders in the mixed division so we changed into warm dry clothes. Ate lunch and then visited with the Dunne's for a while before heading home. There is a lot of the brvado about playing in whatever crappy weather there is on the day of the event but we just don't buy into that. We are never looking to get our money back but we don't really want to be cold and soaking either. Forfeit the cash as a donation to the game and do what makes you happy.
